Broken hearted

Once again in my journey of life, I am broken hearted
For three years, I remember him and say a prayer for him almost every single day.
Our friendship has grown along the way.
There is always a hope of meeting him again.
I treasure my feelings for him deep inside my heart.
But it is all broken apart this morning when he told me he is having a relationship with a girl whom he just met 3 months ago.
A lot of questions are bouncing back and forth in my mind. I do not know the answers. But three things I know, God is on my side, He has the best plan for me, and He loves me much.
Maybe I need to go to this island and isolate myself for a few days, maybe. . .

Maybe I am just being melancholic right now, maybe. . .
Maybe it is time to let go, maybe. . .
Hope that tomorrow will bring a new joy in my journey

One Day in Third Grade Classroom. . .

I was teaching about fungi and bacteria that decay dead plants and animals, including dead human. The discussion got more interesting when one student asked “how about Jesus?”
The discussion got even more intense.
Student A (comes from a Buddhist family): “Jesus was not really dead then.” (thinking that Jesus’ body was not decayed)
Student B: “No, Jesus was reborn!”
Ms. Vil: “No,no,no. Jesus was really dead. He was not reborn, but He rose from the death. Jesus is God!”
(there was an argument between some students, some of them got the right idea, some got the wrong idea, some were just silent)
Student B: “So there is God the father, Jesus, and God the holy spirit. How come they are one?” (refering to the trinity doctrin)
Ms. Vil: (pray in her heart “God, please give me wisdom to talk.”)
The discussion ended by the bell and student A and B said “ah, ok, i get it” (after I tried to explain the idea of Jesus’ death, ressurection, and God’s trinity). And I pray that they really got the idea.
This kind of moment reminds me of why I am being called as a christian teacher. Sometimes it is hard, but I am grateful to be a part of God’s work in planting the seeds of salvation in my students’ heart. I do my part and let God do His part.
Let’s keep on doing our part and put the rest in God’s hands
A Friend Visit

On March 10 my friend and his brother from United States visited me. They are having vacation here and intentionally spent one day just to meet me, how cool was that? She is a friend whom I knew since 2004 when she joined SALT program. I visited her in Long Beach, CA just before I returned to Indonesia in 2009. And now in 2012 we can’t believe that we could meet again.

We spent half of the day in one of thousand islands on Java Sea. We went to the Angel Island. And we had a short trip to three other smaller islands around the Angel Island. It was not the place which was the most important thing, but I treasure the companies. We never know when we will meet again. We (I and Annette agreed that there will be no goodbye between us, never!) we are kind of people who are hard to say goodbye hee hee hee

And guess what she gave me as a gift, an LA Galaxy t-sirt with the initial of David Becham, lol. . . .

Thank you, Annette! For the gifts and for being my friend for all these years and the years to come
The Joy of being a Science teacher

Every now and then, I get “surprises” from my students. Just like today, early in the morning a fifth grader gave me a beautiful (dead) butterfly in a container and later in the afternoon a third grader gave me tadpoles (one has hind legs already, making me so excited).
During these 3 years of teaching here, I have received these interesting gifts from my students and I tape them on my locker door in the teachers room that a friend called it insectarium!

They even gave names to those little creatures!

Just because I am their Science teacher who always welcome them giving any interesting creatures (the other two science teachers always reject these kinds of gifts). And maybe because my students know I love animals. Or maybe beacuse I am always happy when they give me those creatures.
Whatever the reason is, this makes me say “how I love my students! I love my job!”
God is never wrong, He always puts me just at the right place. and I don’t regret the time I decided to receive their offer to be a Science teacher. What a joy to be one!

Road Trip – 2

Family vacation continues…
We drove east…
Stayed one night in Surabaya, the Capital of East Java…
Passed Suramadu bridge, the longest bridge in Indonesia connecting Java island and Madura Island, the first in Indonesia.
We ran and laughed because the policemen were chasing us and using their speaker saying; “you may not stop your car here, it’s a toll road, continue your trip, you may not stop your car here…” (of course we didn’t know that we are not allowed to stop and take pictures LOL)
We drove back to Java Island and continued driving to a town called Batu…
We went here…
My family enjoyed the “air-bike” ride, lampions, horror house, roller coaster, etc, etc… but I only enjoyed some.
We spent a night in this retreat house called “Roemah YWI” in front of the Batu Night Spectacular…
The next day, we visited a place I like so much (you will know why). It is a recreational park called “Jatim (Jawa Timur) Park”. It is a big park with three areas: Animal Museum, Tree Hotel (A hotel that looks like a big trunk of a tree), and Batu Secret Zoo.
I love the big animal museum
Went inside the museum, welcomed by a huge bird cage where you can take picture in it…
Looking at all the remaining of these marvelous creatures…
observing this scene of a constrictor and its prey…
We wanted to stay in the tree hotel, but it was full during Ramadan holidays.
Behind this hotel is the zoo area, so if you stay in the hotel, you can see the animals at night from the balcony.
The zoo is my favorite place to visit this time.
Watching the huge water rats, porcupines, capybaras, foxes, alpaca, white tigers, and many more.
Watching these cute ones…
Feeding bats…
Feeding bison…
Being marveled and amazed by the wonders God has created
Someday I will see you all again, my animal friends…
Remembering…

September is always a time to remember someone special in our family. And we got the opportunity to visit his grave during our homecoming this holidays.
We are not sad anymore, we even took funny pictures. My nephew was having fun with my camera that I didn’t even realize he took our pictures.
And it all happened on our beloved dad’s grave.
I guess my dad was smiling in heaven seeing all of these
We miss you, papi. . .
